Pre-Submission Review Panel

What is it?

A meeting where all RDS South Central advisers, plus a lay representative and a clinical expert, assemble to act as a mock funding panel to review, critique and provide feedback to potential applicants on well-worked-up health and social care grant applications intended for submission to NIHR / national peer-reviewed funding streams.

What do I get out of it?

Submitting your grant application to the Pre-Submission Review Panel can give it an added edge, as it will be reviewed in the same way as it would by the grant issuing body. Feedback is given to the researcher within 10 days of the Review Panel meeting, giving enough time for the suggestions to be implemented before submitting it to the grant issuing body.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible you must be developing a research grant proposal for submission to one of the NIHR funding programmes or another national open peer-reviewed funding competition in applied health or social care.

Please be aware that in order for the panel to review your application, it must be submitted on the relevant funding programme’s application form.

The next Pre-Submission Review Panel will be held on 14th November 2018.

 

Details of our next Pre-submission Review Panel:

  • Deadline for submission of draft documents: 9am on Monday 5th November 2018 (panel to be held on 14th November 2018)
  • Your draft application for review must be submitted on the relevant funding programme’s application form
  • You will need to register your project with us by completing our online Request for Support form (if you are already working with us and have registered your project, this is not necessary – in this case, please quote your RDSSC number)

Should I attend the meeting?

Researchers submitting a proposal for review do not attend the Pre-Submission Review Panel meeting.

What is the deadline for submitting a grant application to the RDS for the Pre-Submission Review Panel?

The Pre-Submission Review Panel convenes three times a year (normally March, June and November).

In order for your application to be considered you must submit it to the RDS South Central no fewer than two weeks before the panel meeting.
