Do you need support with the statistical aspects of grant applications?
The Research Design Service, with support from the Centre for Statistics in Medicine, is running a two-day masterclass in statistics, concentrating on the requirements for applying to health-related NIHR funding streams.
This masterclass IS appropriate for researchers:
- seeking to better understand the statistical aspects relevant to funding bids
- with some previous experience of elementary statistics
- wanting to feel more comfortable when consulting statisticians about grant applications
This masterclass IS NOT appropriate for researchers:
- seeking a theoretical course on statistical methods
- seeking a practical workshop on statistical data analysis
- with absolutely no previous experience of statistics
This masterclass provides an introduction to the statistical issues commonly encountered when preparing grant applications.
The masterclass will take the form of a series of presentations with accompanying practical sessions, to cover the following topics:
- Study objectives
- Outcome measures
- Study designs
- Protocol development
- Sampling and Randomisation
- Sample size
- Statistical Analysis Plan
At the end of this two-day programme you will have developed the skills and knowledge to:
- improve the quality of your grant applications
- have an understanding of the various statistical issues surrounding grant applications
- have direct access to the statistical support which is available to you when applying for funding
